The clipping was reportedly defaced to mock the popular punk act. This lead to an argument with a patron who had asked Gabel why he tore the article down. The Democrat reports that Gabel started yelling at 22 year old Jared Smith, who backed away from the confrontation stating "This conversation is over." Witnesses report that Gabel replied "I don't think it is" and knocked a cup out of Smith's hand. Smith told police that Gabel then grabbed the back of his head by his neck and forced his head into the wooden counter. A barista reported that a third individual then "came into the cafe, put Gabel in a headlock and headbutted him." That man left the scene soon after.<br /><br />Gabel admitted to police he intentionally knocked over the cup but denied hitting Smith, who did not suffer injuries. Smith told police that he was "<i>more upset and scared than hurt</i>." Gabel was taken in by the Leon County Sheriff's office after the band's scheduled performance that night and released this morning on $ 500 bail.<br /><br />The tour will seemingly go on as scheduled as the band continues to support their major label debut, <a target="_blank" href="http://www.punknews.org/review/6480"><i>New Wave</i></a>.</blockquote><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.myspace.com/jaredshaunsmith"></a><br /><br />... fucking rock stars.<br />Apparently <a href="http://www.myspace.com/jaredshaunsmith">this</a> is the dude who got the beatdown.<br /><br /><br />What ever happened to Autonomy?<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/kirbypuckett/gabel.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 282px; height: 338px;" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/kirbypuckett/gabel.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />That coffee better have been fair trade, Tommy boy.Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758645271962802013noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4690329682152066563.post-40057853221820099302007-07-28T23:21:00.000-07:002007-07-28T23:34:38.834-07:00YOU FUCKING SUCKI thought that we were friends.<br />It turns out you never fucking cared to begin with.<br /><br />Yeah, you can act like you're the one who has been done wrong, but now I understand why these people FUCKING HATE YOU.<br /><br />I'm going to be there laughing the next time you fall on your FUCKING face.Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758645271962802013noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4690329682152066563.post-59711091619366998712007-07-27T11:19:00.001-07:002007-07-27T11:37:39.549-07:00Using Google to ACTUALLY get some musicI'm positive anyone with half a mind already knows that <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limewire">Lamewire</a> is complete shit for wanting to download anything faster than an hour, but I'm pretty sure not many of said people know how fucking amazing Google is for it...<br /><br /><a style="left: 0px ! We're just physical systems too.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">We're just complex arrangements of carbon molecules.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">We're mostly water,</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> and our behavior isn't gonna be an exception to basic physical laws.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">So it starts to look like whether it's God setting things up in advance, </span><span style="font-style: italic;">and knowing everything you're gonna do...</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">or whether it's these basic physical laws governing everything.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;"><br />There's not a lot of room left for freedom.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">So now you might be tempted to just ignore the question,</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> ignore the mystery of free will.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Say, "Oh, well, it's just an historical anecdote. It's sophomoric.</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> It's a question with no answer. Just forget about it."</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> But the question keeps staring you right in the face.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">You think about individuality, for example, who you are.</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> Who you are is mostly a matter of the free choices that you make.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Or take responsibility. You can only be held responsible,</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> you can only be found guilty or admired or respected </span><span style="font-style: italic;">for things you did of your own free will.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">The question keeps coming back, and we don't really have a solution to it.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">It starts to look like all your decisions are really just a charade.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Think about how it happens. There's some electrical activity in your brain.</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> Your neurons fire. They send a signal down into your nervous system.</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> It passes along down into your muscle fibers.</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> They twitch. You might, say, reach out your arm.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Looks like it's a free action on your part,</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> but every one of those-- every part of that process...</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">is actually governed by physical law:</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">chemical laws, electrical laws and so on.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">So now it just looks like the Big Bang set up the initial conditions,</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> and the whole rest of our history,</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> the whole rest of human history and even before,</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> is really just sort of the playing out of subatomic particles </span><span style="font-style: italic;">according to these basic fundamental physical laws.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">We think we’re special. We think we have some kind of special dignity,</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> but that now comes under threat.</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> I mean, that's really challenged by this picture.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;"><br />So you might be saying, "Well, wait a minute. What about quantum mechanics?</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> I know enough contemporary physical theory to know it's not really like that.</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> It's really a probabilistic theory. </span><span style="font-style: italic;">There's room. It's loose. It's not deterministic."</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> And that's gonna enable us to understand free will.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">But if you look at the details, it's not really gonna help... </span><span style="font-style: italic;">because what happens is you have some very small quantum particles, </span><span style="font-style: italic;">and their behavior is apparently a bit random.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">They swerve. Their behavior is absurd in the sense that it's unpredictable </span><span style="font-style: italic;">and we can't understand it based on anything that came before.</span><span style="font-style: italic;"> It just does something out of the blue, according to a probabilistic framework.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">But is that gonna help with freedom?</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Should our freedom just be a matter of probabilities, </span><span style="font-style: italic;">just some random swerving in a chaotic system?</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">That just seems like it's worse. I'd rather be a gear </span><span style="font-style: italic;">in a big deterministic, physical machine </span><span style="font-style: italic;">than just some random swerving.<br /><br /></span><span style="font-style: italic;">So we can't just ignore the problem, </span><span style="font-style: italic;">we have to find room in our contemporary world view for persons, </span><span style="font-style: italic;">with all that that it entails; not just bodies, but persons.</span><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">And that means trying to solve the problem of freedom, </span><span style="font-style: italic;">finding room for choice and responsibility... </span><span style="font-style: italic;">and trying to understand individuality.<br /><br /><br /></span><span>EDIT:</span><span style="font-style: italic;"><br /><br />I found this entire segment, and nearly every other one from this movie on youtube.<br />Check it out..<br /><br /><object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_VxQuPBX1_U"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_VxQuPBX1_U" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object><br /></span>Mehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13758645271962802013noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4690329682152066563.post-3640791486709291982007-05-20T10:23:00.000-07:002007-06-07T21:10:57.888-07:00Hahaha...
